High School

In the US, high school runs from grade 9 through grade 12 – high school student-athletes are usually between 14 and 19 years of age. The placement of Infinitum sports student-athletes is dependent on the student’s age, sports, and educational background. The American high school academic year lasts nine months, starting at the end of August and ending in May. Living with a host family in the area or in a School dormitory is a one-of-a-kind experience.

Prep schools are College preparatory schools for students from grades 9 to 12. Usually, they are co-educational, meaning they are for both male and female students. In addition, the student-to-teacher ratio is always small and the class size small. Although some prep schools are boarding schools, there are still day prep schools.

Post Grad

A post-graduate year is a year beyond high school graduation, spent at an independent school. Some students will consider doing an “extra” year of high school in order to better prepare themselves for college in a number of areas. Reasons for pursuing a post-graduate year vary as does the timing of this decision. Some students know early on that they would like to pursue a post-graduate year and don’t go through the college application process at all, while others decide to consider both options. Still, others go through the college application process and then realize that they are not pleased with their college options and would like another year to strengthen their candidacy for colleges.
